October 2023 – The Building Safety Act has come into force. Although begun following the aftermath of the truly dreadful Grenfell Tower disaster, the Construction Industry as a whole was found to be failing in terms of competence. The new Act has far reaching powers and will have impact on all in the industry. For example all workers on a site are to have been assessed and proved to be competent for the role that they are carrying out. CDM Officers will need to receive additional training to meet the new requirements of The Act. Refer to www.hse.gov.uk for further details.

Although the Act appears to cover only England, it will cover Wales.
